Photos Of Bedlington A Pit

After promising about two years ago that I would add some photos of Bedlington A pit to my Bedlington Miners Picnic blog , I have finally got round to doing it . I intend on writing captions for each of the photos when I get time , so this section is still under construction , but at least the photos are now there for everyone to look at . Hope you enjoy them . { For those who don't know , the old A Pit used to be where Bower Grange in Bedlington stands now , mainly  the older part of the estate such as Woburn Drive , Hastings Court and Blenheim Drive . ]

  2. Thanks for your comment Bryan .
I don't know what the attraction was with tha A pit but I adored it even though when those photos were taken I was only about ten years of age . I was living in Bedlington Station at the time and whenever my mother wanted to go to the library I would make her walk the long way round through the pit onto the Barrington road . If you look closely at the picture looking up towards the pit heap you can see my mother standing in a white coat beside the watchman's cabin . Let me know how you progress with the model and if I can be of any help drop me another comment . Even though I was only young I still have vivid memories of the Auld pit .

    Regards .

    Tony.
